Speaking at the Secure eBusiness Applications Seminar organised by Chambers Ireland in the Digital Hub, Emer Wilson, Head of Business Development, Post.Trust, presented on the benefits of digital certificates in enabling secure e-business.
The presentation provided a general overview on the current market climate for Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) adoption, Post.Trust’s offering and expertise in the PKI arena, followed by the business benefits associated with using electronic signatures for sensitive electronic communications such as orders, invoices or legal contracts.
Also presenting at the seminars were Chambers Ireland and Certification Europe. David Bourke, WESIGN National Coordinator, Chambers Ireland, presented information on the WESIGN project. WESIGN is a project implemented by the Chambers of Commerce networks of 9 European countries with the objective of increasing knowledge and access of SMEs to digital certificates.
Sarah O’Donnell, Marketing Manager, Certification Europe gave a talk on information security from an Irish perspective. Certification Europe is the organisation appointed by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) to audit Certification Authorities in Ireland. Post.Trust is accredited by Certification Europe to the Information Security Management System Standards ISO 27001 and the EU Directive 1999/93/EU. Post.Trust is the only Irish-based Certificate Authority accredited to issue legally recognised Qualified Digital Certificates which are in compliance with the EU Directive on electronic signatures.
These seminars were conducted as part of the WESIGN project, an initiative of the European Commission in association with ChamberSign and Chambers Ireland.
