Established in 2007, Landscape-guides Ltd. is an interactive website for walking and cycling enthusiasts on the trail of discovery in North Wales. The website promotes the benefits of walking and cycling through the mediums of eBooks, eGuides, prints, maps and images.
The Challenge
Landscape-guides were looking for an affordable solution that would assist them in asserting copyright in their eBook and eGuide titles which are distributed both online and on CD-ROM in Adobe® PDF format. The challenge to be addressed was to prevent the copying of information from their eBooks and eGuides and the subsequent re-distribution by a third party passing the work off as their own.
Post.Trust Solution
Post.Trust Certificates for Adobe Certified Document Services (CDS) enables Landscape-guides to digitally sign Adobe® PDF eBooks and eGuides which automatically validate using the freely available Adobe® Acrobat® or Reader® software. By adding a Post.Trust I.D. for Adobe CDS signature to an Adobe PDF eBook or eGuide, authorship is explicitly stated and the authenticity and integrity of the contents is preserved. Essentially, it asserts to the recipient that the eBook or eGuide has been authored by Landscape-guides and that copyright ownership of the material rests with that entity. In addition, Landscape-guides also applied security restrictions to the eBooks and eGuides by restricting editing, printing, copying or changes from being made.

Result
Using the features of Post.Trust I.D. and Adobe® Acrobat®, Landscape-guides can restrict usage permissions and assert copyright ownership of their eBooks and eGuides, allowing them to distribute them online and via CD-ROM securely. Landscape-guides can now provide their customers with high quality products which are a pleasure to read confident that their works are protected. Customers can enjoy their reading experience confident in the knowledge that it is a genuine copy.
